The songs are not as catchy and the sound is more refined and a bit darker overall, and maybe not as accessible apart from Thank U and maybe So Pure. Like Jagged Little Pill there are still breakup songs and ballads, but this album feels more mature, but it’s still an angry, personal album. So whilst record executives clamoured for a quick carbon copy follow-up, Morissette took three years to release the successor.
